How it Works

A Stronger Floor in 6 Simple Steps.

At Clever Coatings, we believe renovation shouldn’t be a headache. We have refined our process to be efficient, transparent, and dust-free. Whether it’s a garage, patio, or showroom, here is exactly what happens when you choose us to transform your space.

Everything starts with a conversation. We assess your concrete, discuss your goals (durability, aesthetics, slip resistance), and show you our range of chip and metallic samples. We provide a transparent, upfront quote—no hidden fees.

A coating is only as strong as the bond it creates with the concrete. We don’t just wash the floor; we use industrial diamond grinders to mechanically profile the surface. This opens the “pores” of the concrete, ensuring our coating locks in permanently rather than just sitting on top.

Before we coat, we fix. We fill cracks, pits, and spalls using specialized mending materials. We ensure the surface is smooth and uniform so that the imperfections in your old concrete disappear completely.

We apply a high-grade base coat (Epoxy or Polyaspartic, depending on the system chosen) that bonds deep into the concrete. While wet, we broadcast your chosen decorative flakes (chips) or metallic pigments to full saturation, creating that signature texture and look.

Once the base cures, we scrape away excess chips and vacuum the floor to ensure a perfect, even texture. Finally, we apply the UV-stable Polyaspartic topcoat. This “armor” layer protects against chemicals, tire marks, and fading from the sun.

Because our “Smarter” coatings cure faster than traditional materials, you don’t have to wait weeks. You can typically walk on your floor in 4–6 hours and park your car on it within 24 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most residential projects, like a standard 2-car garage, are completed in just one day. Our advanced polyaspartic coatings cure rapidly, allowing for a quick return to service compared to traditional multi-day epoxy systems.

No. This is a common problem with DIY kits, but our professional-grade system is chemically formulated to resist “hot tire pickup.” The chemical bond we create during the grinding phase ensures the coating becomes part of the concrete, not just a sticker on top of it.

It doesn’t have to be! While the finish is glossy and sleek, the decorative chips provide a natural texture. For pool decks or areas prone to water, we can add a specialized anti-slip aggregate to the final topcoat to ensure safety without sacrificing style.

Absolutely. We use Polyaspartic topcoats which are 100% UV stable. Unlike standard epoxy, which can yellow or chalk when exposed to sunlight, our outdoor coatings maintain their color and strength even under the harsh sun.

It’s incredibly easy. Since the floor is seamless and non-porous, dirt and oil can’t penetrate it. For routine maintenance, a simple broom or dust mop works wonders. For a deeper clean, you can use a hose and a squeegee or a mild, non-filming detergent (like Simple Green) and a soft-bristled mop.

Yes. We repair cracks and surface imperfections as part of our standard preparation process. In many cases, once the floor is coated, those old cracks are completely invisible.

Yes, we stand behind our work. Because we are Veteran-Owned and operated, integrity is our baseline. We provide a warranty against peeling and delamination to give you total peace of mind.
